Welcome
back to Medieval Monday! This is week seven of
the new round of authors, snippets, and fun. Our spring theme is the first
kiss. Today I am hosting Barbara Bettis and her great story, The Lady
of the Forest.
(For easy access to authors taking part in this round of Medieval Monday tales, visit the Medieval Romance Lovers Facebook page. Authors will post their blog links there. You can also find us on Twitter at #MedMonSpring21.)
Let me catch you up. Henry
is stealing a kiss from Katherine. We interrupt Katherine and Henry is a
searing passionate kiss. Yeah, that kind of says it all. We’ve been hanging on
this picture for a week. What will Katherine do? I’m sure you want to know.
Here is excerpt 7
from The Lady of the Forest by Barbara Bettis.
Bumps marched along his arms; odd because the heat in his
body could have ignite a
blaze. His cock hardened, and he shifted
to relieve the pressure
A moan of protest sounded deep in her
throat. She tilted forward, her tongue stroking his, and his world shifted.
Literally. The small rock on which she sat tipped to the side, dumping her into
his lap, which sent him sliding to the earth.
He landed on his back. She collapsed on
him, and he grunted. Mouth ajar, she raised on her elbows and stared down into
his face. Their shocked gazes tangled as awkwardly as their limbs.

He must pursue his enemy; she
must protect her people.
Can their love survive the duties that drive them
apart?
When her elderly husband dies, Lady Katherine fakes her own death and disappears into the forest with others escaping the brutish new lord. Determined to protect her people, she knocks the wrong man senseless. But Lord Henry isn’t an enemy, he’s the brother of her childhood friend. Although his tender confidence tempts her, she’s bound by duty.
Henry of Chauvere has found the one lady he wants for his own, never mind she’s tied him hand and foot. When he learns the king has ordered her to wed Stonehill’s ruthless new master, he insists Kate seek haven with his sister. But she won’t desert her friends. Henry vows to solve her problem, provided he catches a traitor before the threat from Kate's past catches her.
When a daring rescue compels Henry and Kate to
join forces, their attraction grows into love. If only duty didn’t drive them
apart.
