Medieval Monday Blog Hop with Elisabeth Hobbes

Welcome to week 4 of the Medieval Monday Blog Hop. Roger has Lucy right where he wants her. Or does he? Today I’m hosting Elisabeth Hobbes on my blog and she is hosting me on her blog. Here is her continuing snippet from Redeeming the Rogue Knight
Excerpt
‘What are you doing here?’ Lucy asked through gritted teeth. ‘How did you find me?’
‘I won the game and the purse. I wanted to tell you, but you weren’t where I had left you,’ Roger said. Remembering the plans he had been making on his way there, he felt his temper surge.
‘Is that Robbie’s father?’
‘No!’ She stiffened in his arms.
‘Is he your lover?’
Was this the reason she had refused him? The miller already had a claim on her affections.

Does the miller have a claim on Lucy? Follow along next week on Bambi Lynn’s blog  www.bambilynnblog.wordpress.com to find out.

Happy Valentine's Day!

“Here?” she whispered to him sweetly.
“We’re alone,” he said discreetly.
“I’ve been good till now!” she sighed.
“But you’re human!” he replied.
“It’s so big!” she hesitated.
“It’s all yours,” he proudly stated.
“Oh, I shouldn’t!” she protested.
“If you love me -!” he suggested.
And so, losing all resistance,
she gave in to his insistence …

and ate every single chocolate in the box!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

with a special thank you to my Valentine and Hallmark Cards.

Tell me about the best Valentine you got - that you can mention in public 💗💋💗

Medieval Monday Blog Hop with Sherry Ewing

Welcome to week 3 of our Medieval Monday Blog Hop. Riorden has brought his new bride home and so far what he’s encountered has not pleased him. Just how bad is it? Today I’m hosting Sherry Ewing from Only For You: The Knights of Berwyck, A Quest Through Time Novel (Book 2)
Excerpt from Only For You:
Cobwebs hung from the dusty tapestries and unused candlesticks, as if the spiders had enjoyed weaving their silvery death traps to their hearts’ content, since no one had disturbed their busy work. The torches hanging in the wall sconces were unlit and only small shafts of light shone down from the few upper windows, giving what light there was to the chamber. It lent a gloomy quality to the room that even he did not wish to linger in. Taking in the conditions around him, he would have thought the place had not been cleaned since his father’s passing. Surely, this could not be true.
Follow along next week on Bambi Lynn’s blog at https://www.bambilynnblog.wordpress.com leave a comment below for a chance to win one of her eBooks. She'll choose a random winner from the comments for an autographed copy through Authorgraph
Back Cover of Only For You:
Sometimes it’s hard to remember that true love conquers all only after the battle is over…
Katherine de Deveraux has it all or so she believes when she begins her life with her husband Riorden. But as she starts to settle into her duties as the Countess of Warkworth Castle, she finds that an easy life is not only difficult but downright dangerous to her well-being.
Consumed with the haunting memories of his father, Riorden must deal with his sire’s widow who just happens to also be his ex-lover. Yet how could he know just how far Marguerite is willing to go in order to have the life she feels they were truly meant to live?
Torn apart by circumstances neither Katherine nor Riorden could ever imagine, Time becomes their true enemy even while Marguerite continues her ploy to keep Riorden at her side. With all hope lost, will Katherine and Riorden find a way to save their marriage and have their happily ever after ending, or will Katherine be whisked back to where Time truly feels she belongs?

Medieval Monday Blog Hop with Lane McFarland

Welcome to week 2 of Medieval Monday Blog Hop. Heathens! Heathens! The king is calling the steadfast loyal Scotsmen heathens. Well, we see about that. Today I’m hosting Lane McFarland on my blog and she is hosting me on her blog. Here is her continuing snippet from A King’s Enemies.
Excerpt:
Heathens, indeed. Katherine seethed. De Seabrooke was a murdering barbarian.
Cheers erupted. Women dressed in velvet and silk, their hair spun up and pinned atop their heads and jewels caressing their necks, smiled and clapped. The king’s council, resplendent in Edward’s livery, lauded praise upon de Seabrooke.
What fools. If they only knew the monster they honored.
Standing behind Queen Margaret’s ladies-in-waiting, she rubbed her clammy palms down the front of her skirt. No one must suspect she held anything but admiration for the king’s hero.
Want more? Constance’s predicament continues next week at Bambi Lynn’s blog:  www.bambilynnblog.wordpress.com and leave a comment below for a chance to win an ebook of A KING'S ENEMIES.
Blurb:
Tormented by King Edward’s brutality against Scottish sympathizers, Drake Fletcher vows revenge, but only a madman single-handedly attacks the Crown. Instead, he enters the royal court as a spy to aid Robert the Bruce’s rise to power and place a formidable leader on Scotland’s throne.
Scottish lass Katherine Mackenzie Armstrong targets three of King Edward’s officers who brutally raped and murdered her mother. Disguised as one of Queen Margaret’s attendants, she sets a course to destroy the men.
The acts of treason both Drake and Katherine commit are punishable by death in The Tower of London but their determination pushes dangerous limits. Considered enemies, they use each other to gain vital information. Neither expect their overwhelming attraction to one another, the staggering emotions stirred. But the closer they become, the more they jeopardize their pledges of vengeance.
Will the weight of retaliation crush them, see them beheaded? Or will Katherine and Drake form an alliance and learn to live and love again?

Medieval Monday Blog Hop with Judith Sterling

Welcome back to Medieval Monday. We had such a terrific response with our author exchange blog hop that we're doing it again. Today I’m hosting Judith Sterling on my blog and she is hosting me on her blog. Here is her snippet from Shadow of the Swan, Book Three of The Novels of Ravenwood
Excerpt
Sitting without repose on one of the solar’s high-backed chairs, Constance shifted positions. An unexpected chill crept in with the evening. The shutters were closed, and a fire danced and hissed on the hearth. The room was aglow with candles whose light harmonized to showcase the exquisite tapestries on the wall. Vibrant yet vulnerable, the flames quivered at the slightest draft.
Her stomach quivered, too, as she stared at her half-eaten pigeon pie. Whatever made me agree to share his bed? The mention of rats? The thought of a prickly straw mat between her back and the cold, hard floor?

Want more? Constance’s predicament continues next week at Bambi Lynn’s blog:  www.bambilynnblog.wordpress.com

Two souls in need of healing.  Two hearts destined to beat as one.

Books, Chocolate and Wine with Barbara White Daille

Ruth, thanks so much for inviting me back to visit!

I’m thrilled to be sharing my new release, One Week to Win Her Boss, book 2 in the Snowflake Valley series, as well as special news about book 1, Snowbound with Mr. Wrong.

One Week to Win Her Boss
a Snowflake Valley novel

The back cover copy:

Single mom Amber Barnett loves family, kids, Christmas…and unfortunately, her boss, confirmed bachelor Michael DeFranco. It's a crush she really needs to get over. Except, when she’s temporarily forced from her apartment, her only option is to stay at Michael’s private ski lodge, where she's the housekeeper. No problem. Her handsome boss rarely visits Snowflake Valley unexpectedly, plus he’s spending the holidays with his family. Or so she thinks…
A stormy Christmas Eve reunion leaves Michael seeking the solitude of his lodge, where he finds Amber in residence—and in trouble. Attempting to save her from her matchmaking family, he announces they’re a couple. His good deed backfires when they’re instantly included in each and every holiday event in town. So much for solitude.
Only the more time he spends with the beautiful, cheery brunette, the more he yearns to make things real between them. But he and Amber want different things, and Michael could never be the family man she's looking for.

Excerpt:

This excerpt comes very close to the beginning of the story, when Michael learns Amber has moved into his lodge – and doesn’t seem to be planning to leave any time soon!  lol

Amber couldn’t stay at the lodge with Michael here. But where else could she go?
Run home to her family? No way. She refused to let them know she wasn’t the independent, in-control single mom she wanted them to see.
She trusted all her friends but couldn’t ask for their help. Even if not a single one of them talked, everyone in Snowflake Valley would eventually know what had happened. One person would see something, another would overhear something else, and before she knew it, she would have no secrets from anyone, including Michael.
He took his seat again and looked at her. “Amber, what are you hiding from your family?”
She clamped her coffee mug in a death grip. “Who said I was hiding anything from them?” she asked cautiously.
“You did. You said not to tell your mom and sisters about the soup.”
“Oh. That.” She forced a laugh. “They would disown me for not making it from scratch. They’re all very into homemade food, homemade clothes…homemade everything. Callie, my oldest sister—you met her, she’s the one who’s a teacher. Anyway, she even has a recipe to make her own Christmas ornaments out of paste and flour.”
He eyed the tree in the corner of the room. Needing some Christmas cheer, she had turned the lights on when she’d come downstairs with Penny.
“Don’t worry,” she said, “I decorated it myself, and I promise you there’s not a handmade ornament in the bunch.”
“Hey, I already told you, I couldn’t care less. It’s your tree, not mine. If it were up to me, there wouldn’t be one in the house.”
“Scrooge,” she teased. Instant conversation stopper. No return smile from him, as she had hoped. No comment, either. Just a silent shrug.
She needed to keep him away from the topic of secrets…

From reviews for One Week to Win Her Boss:

“Personally, I wish the Barnett family would adopt me and invite me to their midst, and to Snowflake Valley, for every holiday of the year. My bet is you will feel the same.” – Amazon Customer

“…their story comes alive with believable, it could happen moments. That is what separates stories for me, whether I can really believe the reactions of the people involved… and One Week to Win Her Boss gives us a family, a town full of believable nice and not so nice people. This is a story that will go on my yearly re-read list – and I’d highly recommend it for any Romance reader.” – Keeper Bookshelf.

“Barbara White Daille writes about a magical setting. Snowflake Valley is beautiful and I loved the festive atmosphere of the place. She makes it come to life in a great vivid way. The holiday charm of the story is absolutely amazing. This perfect background for romance put a big smile on my face. One Week to Win Her Boss is captivating, sweet and endearing. It's a heartwarming entertaining story.” – Suze Lavender

“The part I liked the best was the anticipation of Amber Barnett and Michael DeFranco becoming a real couple. It was like opening a gift on Christmas day. You want to savor and cherish it because it is special and you do not want to spoil the memory. I want to read other books in this series and other books by Barbara White Daille.” - Lori, Amazon review

Black Friday Book Bonanza!

Congratulations to our three winners!

  • Melinda A
  • James C
  • Wendy

Thank you all for entering! Have a wonderful holiday.

Happy Black Friday! While you’re recuperating from eating, watching football and buying gifts (and I hope books), my family and I are celebrating Thanksgiving. Yes, on Friday. It’s a decision I made with the kids. They go to their in-laws on Thursday and they come to us on Friday… and stay until Sunday.

Our son Ari and his girlfriend Kate live in Boston. They come home for the weekend and since everyone wants to spend time with them, our daughters Staci and Cori and their families move back home for a family weekend even though they live thirty minutes away.

By the time they come here they’ve had their fill of turkey. I get to serve something more creative… Okay, the truth is the family insists on the same menu every year. No surprises. The year I swapped out the green beans for Brussel sprouts almost led to an uprising. They decided I’m allowed to add but not take away the beef brisket, leg of lamb, sweet potato soufflé, noodle pudding or mulled apple cider. Cori has added her signature dish, butternut squash soup. Staci makes garlic mashed potatoes. Kate brings the apple pie and cookies. Everyone arrives early and helps in the kitchen.

Thank goodness they all come with their own plastic containers to take the left overs when they leave. I’ve been known to make extra portions so no one leaves empty handed.

We spend lots of time watching movies, playing games and eating. Last year Staci’s children Olivia and Alex decided to entertain us with air guitars and karaoke.  This year we have a new addition. Caylee, Cori and Chris’ new baby has joined the family.

It continues for the weekend. After our Sunday brunch we divy up the left overs and everyone packs up. Cori, Chris and Caylee will need to get home in time for a nap. Staci has lesson plans to write and needs to get the Olivia and Alex ready for school. Ari and Kate start their trek back to Boston.

It’ll quiet after they all leave, but I’ll have just enough time to get online and order everyone’s holiday presents. We only have three weeks before the kids will be back and we can do it all over again for Hanukkah/Christmas. Maybe I’ll change up the menu and make chicken or salmon. Nah, why change a good thing. It’s perfect just the way it is.

To celebrate the holiday, I'm giving away a free ebook of my story, Happily Ever After to three lucky winners. Click to enter for your chance to win.

Happy Holiday everyone!
